"Thank you for your message, Corrie."
"What was my message?"
"You said that we must believe in God."
"The devil also believes in God, and he trembles! I told you something else. Nobody comes to God without Jesus. It is Him we must accept. We must surrender to Him who bought us with His blood - a very high price. We must give Him His money's worth."

"You were ransomed ... not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ ..." 1 Peter 1:18 RSV

Lord Jesus, You are the life of my life, the death of my death. How You suffered in body, soul, and mind when You died on the cross for me. Thank You, oh, how I thank You!

There are great lessons to learn concerning faith and the nature or character of faith when you read in the Bible about disciples. I am grateful for the record of every mistake they ever made and for every blunder they committed. I see myself in them. The Bible speaks the truth and shows and pictures every human frailty.

"And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O men of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm." Matthew 8:26 RSV

Lord, thank You that You do not ask a great faith, but faith in a great God.

The reality which we see by faith is more important than the results of all our logical hinking.

"We walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7 RSV

Lord, when there is no vision, people perish. Make and keep our faith strong and powerful through Your Holy Spirit so that we see Your pattern.

I have a book in my hand. The book can be on the table or on the chair, but it must lie somewhere. So it is with our past. Do you bear your past and the sins of your past yourself?

"... the Lord (God) has laid on him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all." Isaiah 53:6 RSV

My past is too heavy for me to bear, Lord. It makes me weak and ineffectual. Thank You for taking the burden from me.

We must never allow ourselves to be agitated and disturbed whatever the circumstances. To do so implies a lack of faith and trust and confidence in our blessed Lord. God gives the gift of faith and then the faith is tried.

"In this you rejoice, though now for a little while you may have to suffer various trials, so that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold which though perishable is tested by fire, may redound to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6,7

Thank You, Lord, that You provide and repair our faith whenever it is necessary. Together with You, Lord Jesus, we are victorious.

If you truly love your fellow man, you must warn him of the danger of losing eternal life. Tell everyone you can reach the glorious story of Jesus, that they may be saved in time. The world is full of people who need salvation. It is our job to find them and deliver the message.

"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12 RSV

Holy Spirit, help us not lose one opportunity.

When we were teenagers, each of us children had a Bible in a different language. Mine was in English, Betsie's was in Hebrew, Nollie's in French, and Willem's in Greek. We would compare the Bible verses and that way learn two things at once. These activities in our youth proved to be important in our later lives.

Our training is so complex. Who can say what forms a child into a certain kind of man? Our comfort is that the Lord knows the full story of our lives and will see to the training.

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation." Mark 16:15 RSV

Lord, what a blessing that You understand all the languages of the world and that You gave us Christians the commission to bring the Gospel over the whole earth.

The greatest place to bring the Gospel is to your own family. But until the family sees what you are talking about, they will never hear your words.

I am my neighbor's Bible,
he reads me when we meet
Today he reads me in the house,
tomorrow in the street
He may be relative or friend,
or slight acquaintance be
He may not even know my name,
yet he is reading me

"...and you shall be witnesses unto Me..." Acts 1:8 KJV

Lord, make me a testimony to my family and my neighbors. Take my life as Your channel. Help me to live a life that glorifies You in everything.
