April 8

Self is a tight lock. I see many decent sinners who are in a spiritual prison because their self is on the throne of their hearts and Jesus is on the cross. What liberation comes when Jesus cleanses their hearts with His blood and comes to the throne, and self goes on the cross!

He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.
Matthew 10:39

Lord Jesus, come on the throne of my heart. I am willing to give of myself, to take up my cross, and follow You.

Only faith will make us see the reality of Christ’s victory. Our senses are sometimes limited by our intellect; faith has no limitations and sees the truth.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV

Thank You, Lord, that Your foolishness is the greatest wisdom. All is ours through faith! Help us to accept the great gifts offered to us. We will take and enjoy them, and not wonder about the wrappings they come in.

The wisdom of men, even the voice of our own senses, should not be used to try to understand the Bible. Don’t worry about what you do not understand of the Bible. Worry about what you do understand and do not live by.

By faith we understand that the world was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made out of things which do not appear.
Hebrews 11:3

Father, let us know when to be satisfied with not knowing. We do not need great Wisdom to trust in You.

To travel through the desert with others, to suffer thirst, to find a spring, to drink of it, and not to tell the others, that they may be spared, is exactly the same as enjoying Christ and not telling others about Him.

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1 Peter 4:10 KJV

Lord, I must humble myself. I have been selfish.

An East German teacher was telling her class that God does not exist. After her lesson, she asked who still believed in God, and a little girl stood up. The teacher made her stay after school and write one hundred times, “I do not believe that God exists.” The girl could not do that, so she wrote. “I do believe that God exists.”

The teacher was so angry with her that she made her write it correctly one thousand times at home that night. The little girl wrote it one thousand times her way, although she knew she would be punished severely in school the next day.

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10

Lord, though we suffer for our faith, we will persevere with Your help. Your strength will be demonstrated even in our weakness. Hallelujah!

There is no army where only officers fight. Everyone who is in the army of God must fight, even the soldier in the lowest rank. When we obey and act on the promises, we stand on victory ground, because the ability of our Master is available to us.

As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.
John 20:21 RSV

God give us men touched with fire from above
God give us men with a Calvary love
God give us men who are filled with Your power
God give us men for this day and this hour
Men who are fearless when seeking the lost
Men who will follow whatever the cost
Where are the men we need
Where are the men
When will they heed thy call
When, Saviour, when
Raise up a host burning with holy fire
Men filled with Thee and with flaming desire
Men who will serve Thee without doubt, without fear
God give us men who will now volunteer.

We can only understand God’s purpose for this world, and what it is to be His ambassadors, when we are born again. Then We truly know Jesus. It is exciting to be in God’s school As His personal representatives we may say, “Make your peace with God.”

Unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3

Lord Jesus, show me if I am Your child, born into Your family. What a joy to know that if there is any doubt, I may open my heart for You to come in, and I am sure that you will perform that miracle by which I will become a child of God.

Could a mariner sit idle
when he heard the drowning cry?
Could a doctor sit in comfort
knowing that his patients die?
Could a fireman watch men perish
and not give a helping hand?
Can you sit at ease in Sion
with a world around condemned?

For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed when he comes in his glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:26

O Lord, forgive me that I have been blind to the urgency of bringing the Gospel.
