The blood of Jesus does not cleanse excuses. It cleanses sins that are confessed. We have to humble ourselves.
...the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:7-8
Father, help us, through Your Holy Spirit, to keep the eyes of our understanding clear, so that we see our sins as severely as they should be seen, but also that we see the ocean of Your love and grace.
